After a not-so-restful night thanks to the dogs, I am up and "at work," by which I mean in my recliner with the work laptop in my lap (and not my personal laptop.) That's work now. It's weird.
Outside, there are contractors here removing our old deck. Or rather, the remnants of the old deck. We had removed 2/3rds of it previously and now we're going back to a porch that is roughly half of what it was when we moved in and twice what it has been for the last few years. I am extremely excited for this. The trade off is for the next few days having folks outside sawing, hammering, etc. But, that's home ownership for you.
Tape of Trump and Georgia officials 'was found in trash of investigator's laptop'
Tr*mp just can't stay out of the news. Well, really, his past mistakes are coming back to roost. We will see if this becomes anything or if the teflon armor for the rich holds for him.
Give a dog a bone: Spending money on pets promotes happiness
Pets bring happiness in many ways. A new study suggests that even spending money on pets can bring happiness. I think this makes sense, there is another study that suggests giving to others or doing things for other people can bring happiness, so why wouldn't doing that for our animals who are in many ways dependent on us, not also bring happiness.
Cricut's Unfair Lockdown
Cricut machines apparently just forced people who owned the machines into a subscription model. It's like right to repair but worse. I was looking at the machines this weekend, Katie and I went to Michaels to get some stuff for another project. It's essentially a crafter's cnc mill machine for small things, but hearing about the new subscription model makes me far far far less interested in the machine.
Thank you to the U.S. Senate for your confirmation vote today. As Secretary of @Interior, I look forward to collaborating with all of you. I am ready to serve. #BeFierce

The Non-Fungible Token Bible: Everything you need to know about NFTs
I haven't read it yet, but I bookmarked it as a resource as I try to understand this new crypto-NFT craze.
Secretary of State's first speech is excellent
I saw it tweeted and so I went and gave the first speech a read and it is astoundingly earnest and grounded and direct about this government's goals both domestic and foreign. Give it a read. Press isn't covering it because they are still drunk on the T-juice for four years and calm earnest politics aren't as ready headline fodder.
