"Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin presumed dead after Russia plane crash"
Oh... Yes... I'm sure it was an accident.
I shared this online yesterday but neglected to post it here. I'm working in our garage, cleaning it and organizing it, this week and in doing so came across a fun personal memento from the first major Magic event I attended as press.
Before working for Wizards itself, I had started a fan website and video podcast called ManaNation. The 2007 World Championships was the first major event we attended and opened a lot of doors that eventually led me to working for Wizards.
Right to repair in California gets major boost as Apple comes out in support
Apple told a California legislator that it is formally supporting a right to repair bill in California, a landmark move that suggests big tech manufacturers understand they have lost the battle to monopolize repair, and need to allow consumers and independent repair shops to fix their own electronics.
"Apple writes in support of SB 244, and urges members of the California legislature to pass the bill as currently drafted," Apple wrote to Susan Eggman, the sponsor of the bill, in a letter obtained by 404 Media. "We support SB 244 because it includes requirements that protect individual users' safety and security, as well as product manufacturers' intellectual property. We will continue to support the bill, so long as it continues to provide protections for customers and innovators."
"The Life and Death of Bear 148"
Emphasis mine as I fear a reader might overlook it as the author discusses the parenting of Bear 148.
Bear 148 wasn’t your typical grizzly. Her heritage had set her up for greatness in the Canadian Rockies. She was sired by Bear 122, a fearsome, upward-of-660-pounds grizzly nicknamed “The Boss.” He was a prolific breeder and a bully, earning a reputation for eating smaller black bears. He had reportedly been hit by a train—and survived. Bear 148’s mother was his opposite in almost every way. Nearly a decade older than her mate, Bear 64 was renowned for her gentle nature in the presence of people. She was a frontcountry bear who captivated wildlife photographers and vacationers as she foraged for roots and berries along the highway that runs through the heart of Banff National Park. Even when tourists moved too close, Bear 64 held back; she refrained from bluff-charging, instead giving an irritated huff.
Honestly, the article is fine and not something that I regard as must read. While an interesting discussion as 148 saw a number of headlines as she ventured about and encroached in human territory.
