Threshing Day by Rebecca Yarros (audiobook)
This is book 3.5 in the series and I continue to greatly enjoy the setting and the concept of the world, but this wasn't my favorite book. Rather than a full narrative novel, this is a collection of chapters each sharing a snapshot of other characters from the series from when they bonded their dragon.
While interesting to get a better insight into characters beyond Violet, the series' main character, this book left me feeling meh. The writing is fine. There is only a small amount of plot to the larger story, though it does contain some clear suggestions and insights into the larger plot.
I listened to the audiobook which utilizes a number of narrators across the chapters, and I found several of the chapters distractingly, well, bad. I won't spend too much time on this, just to say, I probably won't be listening to this book again.
And I don't know why, but there are large warnings of spoilers in the book which I also found weird - this is book 3.5 in the series, and while it does take place from before the start of the series up into it, I don't understand why someone reading this book would be surprised it had spoilers for books 1-3.
