The Offpsring had a new album in 2021
I am not a superfan of The Offspring. I recall listening to them a lot back in highschool but afterwards it's only been when it plays randomly and gets in my head.
I have no idea why, or where it came from, but suddenly I was humming some of their songs. So, I went to look up the song I was humming to listen to, and I discovered that they were still doing stuff and, in fact, had just put an album out last year.
That's crazy. Listening to it now.
"Prince Estate Court Battle Finally Ends, Six Years Later"
Rolled out at a hearing Friday, the agreement paves the way for disbursement of Prince’s assets, including $6 million in cash and many times that in music rights and other intangibles. They’ll be split between three heirs and their families, their advisers, and Primary Wave — which owns roughly half of the estate.
"The Night I Met Einstein"
A beautiful story of a surprising evening where the author met Einstein and found himself to be the point of focus as Einstein taught him to appreciate the music of Bach. I might suggest you put on this song as you read.
Decided I need some Daft Punk to finish out the workday, once this finished I put on "Random Access Memories." Good stuff.
Today feels like a David Bowie kind of day.
This song came across my feed this morning and confirms it:
Questlove presents Prince
I found myself wanting to listen to Prince while I worked this morning, so I went back to the amazing DJ set from Questlove a few years ago. It isn't just the music, he adds interesting insights and stories. Well worth a few hours of your day.
Spent part of last night listening to this album as I wrote and worked on my book. Such an amazing concert, I can only wish I had seen it in person.
Super Mario World music restored
A group of superfans have begun reverse engineering? Sourcing? I don't know how exactly they are finding the songs, but they are putting up the soundtrack from Super Mario World at the uncompressed (aka like it was played and not rendered down to fit on a cartridge.)
Sound of Silence - Cover by Puddles Pity Party
Puddles Pity Party is a PNW personality who gained a bit of national attention after appearing on America's Got Talent. I was brought back to this cover after another of his video's appeared on my feed.
New Radicals to perform together for first time in 22 years at Biden's inauguration
The hit also has a deep connection with the Biden family: In Joe Biden's 2017 autobiography, Promise Me, Dad, he wrote that "You Get What You Give" became the family's rallying "theme song" for son Beau Biden during his battle with cancer.
"During breakfast, Beau would often make me listen to what I thought was his theme song, "You Get What You Give' by the New Radicals," Biden wrote. "Even though Beau never stopped fighting and his will to live was stronger than most – I think he knew that this day might come. The words to the song are: This whole damn world can fall apart. You'll be ok, follow your heart."
Well that certainly made me get misty eyed.

Allegedly a rare recording of a music lesson with Franz Liszt
The previous post caused me to do some googling and also search fro Liszt on Reddit which linked to this video. I don't know if it is legitimate. I am trying to authenticate it or find it discussed elsewhere since it's just a random upload from someone with 200 subscribers on YouTube. Fascinating to see.
